The purpose
of C.I.A for Kids!
is to provide opportunities for children 2nd-5th grade
to be Christians In Action by
“serving God while sharing his love”
with others!
The program
began a very busy start in the Summer of 2007 as the children volunteered
their services on four different mission trips! They delivered VBS school
supply donations to Concern Child Learning Center and to St. Luke’s
Episcopal Church for area school children; they weeded and replanted a
flower garden for a senior church member; volunteered at AGAPE Mission;
brought clothing for local flood victims to Mary Martha Outreach Center and
sorted through donations!
During the
fall of 2008 CIA for Kids!
completed a ‘mystery’ service project for East Cross UMC; made four blankets
for Project Linus and 52 snuggle pillows for the local Family in Crisis
Center; created banners for ECUMC Children’s Christmas Program; and shopped
for four children through East Cross’ Angel Tree!
CIA
for Kids! continues to meet one
Wednesday night of each month from 6:00 – 7:00 pm as one part of
Transformers. They begin their time
with a free meal at 5:30 pm in the Christian Life Center followed by a mission project! For planning purposes we ask you
to sign-up in the Narthex or email –
linda@eastcross.org – by the previous
Sunday. Check our church newsletter for current mission projects and dates!
