GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide general staff oversight of the entire East Cross Youth Ministry including all activities and events involving youth. The ministry shall be consistent with policies and guidelines established by the Pastors, Church Council and the Staff Parish Relations Committee.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as staff representative and an advocate for Youth Ministry on the following committees and regularly attend their meetings. • Church Council • Church Staff • Outreach • Evangelism • Memorials, Scholarships and Trusts Committee Establish and work with youth sponsors to plan overall Youth Ministry at East Cross with focus on accomplishing the following objectives:

A. Lead Youth into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. • Provide a variety of opportunities for youth to learn the basics of Christian discipleship. • Cultivate close contacts with youth and encourage their participation and support. • Recruit confirmands and lead the Confirmation Class. • Attend and support numerous school and community events frequented by youth. • Be available to counsel with youth regarding their problems and needs. • Attend and encourage youth to attend District Camps.

B. To develop a well-rounded youth ministry at East Cross with emphasis on the following: • Worship • Small Groups • Prayer • Bible Study • Fellowship/Recreation • Missions/Service • Christian Educational Programs • Fiscal Responsibility is essential in relation to managing a budget, fund raisers and youth events/trips.

C. Youth Leadership Development • Encourage youth to develop and use their own leadership skills. • Enable youth to express their faith through service to others. • Equip youth to witness effectively to others. • Encourage youth to participate in the total life of the church. • Actively assist youth in the above objectives. • Attend worship on Sunday morning, setting a good example for the youth.

D. Recruitment and Training of Adult Workers • Recruit Sunday School teachers, leaders, sponsors and volunteers to serve in Youth Ministry programs and activities. • Coordinate youth curriculum. • Provide training opportunities for workers with youth. • Recruit mentors and prayer partners for confirmands. • Maintain close contact and communication with parents and encourage their involvement and support. • Provide Safe Sanctuary Training for all those who serve youth. • Oversee the Youth Intern (if applicable).

E. Publicize youth events to both youth and parents (small groups, trips, events, dinners, etc.) through social media, emails, newsletters, mailings, and other means of communication.

F. Participate in the leadership of worship on Sunday mornings, through the guidance of the pastors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES • At least a Bachelors’ Degree in Ministry or related field of study is preferred. • Experience in full time, paid youth ministry leadership is preferred. • Willing to locate to the Bartlesville area.
